South Park search warrant leads to drugs, body armor, gun

South Park neighbors have been abuzz today about SWAT officers’ activity at a home on S. Cloverdale. We went over to check on the situation a little while ago, and they had finally left; SPD Media Relations would say only at the time that a “narcotics search warrant” was being served. Now we have more information, as posted by SPD’s Jonah Spangenthal-Lee on SPD Blotter (the next photo also is courtesy SPD):

SWAT and narcotics detectives recovered more than a pound of meth, body armor, and a loaded handgun when they arrested a felon—and suspected drug dealer—outside his South Park home Wednesday.

Narcotics detectives began investigating the 31-year-old suspect after South Park neighbors complained about drug dealing at the suspect’s home, on 8th Avenue S. and S. Cloverdale Street.

When SPD’s SWAT team and narcotics detectives arrested the suspect today, they found the man was carrying a loaded pistol in a shoulder holster. The suspect is on Department of Corrections supervision, and is not supposed to have a gun.

Detectives also found a bulletproof vest and meth inside the man’s home.
