North Seattle shooting leads to South Park, and citywide, community-center closure
THE LATEST – 6:27 PM: The suspect is in custody and the mayor and police leadership have just briefed reporters. No word on a motive. The victim is now said to be in serious but stable condition, an improvement from earlier. Though the situation is over, the Parks facilities remain closed tonight; the mayor expects them to be “fully open” tomorrow.

EARLIER – 4:32 PM: South Park and all other city-run community centers are closed for the rest of the day/night because of the search for a suspect in the Bitter Lake shooting of the man who runs the Associated Recreation Council, which partners with the city to run community-center programs. 46-year-old Carolyn “Zoom” Piksa is shown above. Her car has been found in Burien, which is reported to be her city of residence (public records show the Beverly Park area, not that far from here) – if you see her, call 911.
