Library levy passing: What’s in it for South Park
After the first few rounds of vote-counting, the Seattle library levy appears to be a lock for passage. We had asked the PR firm that worked on the campaign, The Fearey Group, what was in it for South Park’s library if it passed. Here’s the reply:
If the levy passes, South Park Branch will open on Sundays and on-site reference staff will be restored. Bilingual story time was enjoyed by more than 1,000 participants in 2011, so levy funds would be used to expand children’s collection of books to help support early literacy and learning. About one-third of the branch’s collection is in Spanish; expanded access will bolster ESL services, bilingual computer classes, and homework help. Much like every other branch, the one week system closure would be rescinded.
It’ll take a few weeks before the election results are certified. You can check them here.
