Update: King County Sheriff’s Office, Seattle Police search in South Park

2:44 AM: Many are asking about the air and ground search under way right now. We checked with Southwest Precinct’s Lt. Alan Williams, who says it’s a King County Sheriff’s Office case with which SPD is assisting – the only information he had was that “King County was searching for a vehicle they had tried to stop.” On the Yahoo! e-mail group, neighbors are reporting officers on foot, searching yards. No discussion of this on the scanner, but we now have messages out to KCSO to see if anyone’s on overnight that can tell us more about what they’re trying to solve. Will update this if/when we find out more.

3:30 AM: We still don’t know why the person was being sought, but via an eyewitness report on the mailing list and traffic on the SPD scanner, we know that the person KCSO was seeking is now in custody.

11 AM: According to Sgt. Patrick McCurdy from KCSO: “We pursued a stolen car, and with a cooperative effort from our Deputies, Seattle Police, Tukwila Police and Guardian 1, we caught all three suspects and recovered the car in the South Park area.”
